A D 1620

Review:      Composer Edward Macdowell was a 19th century American pianist and composer. "A.D. 1620," one of his compositions, is a part of the suite originally written for piano entitled Sea Pieces. The arranger Ellen Jane Lorenz has scored the very slow and meditative piece for 3 octaves of bells, enlarging it for the 4th octave, which doubles melody or bass. The doubled parts are not written out in the treble (they are marked by brackets), but they are written out in the bass clef. The rich harmonies of Edward MacDowell, the 19th century American composer, are instantly recognized. Set in C Major, this piece is 22 measures.
