Commissioned by Cindy Karm for the
Concert Bells of Fort Worth to premiere, this dreamy, richly textured piece was created to “evoke the cold of winter” without being a “holiday” song. While not extremely difficult from a technical standpoint, the music affords a stunning opportunity for musical nuance and expression. It is a journey into a harsh winter, forging a path through cold months of long nights until we reach the renewing warmth of spring after 81 spellbinding, captivating measures. As Cindy says, it’s “the sound your heart makes when you finally figure things out.”
