Review:
This reflective, open arrangement of a beloved Lenten hymn showcases the duet of a cello (or bassoon/C inst.) and Bell Tree solo (or Rung solo) G4-C6 - while the remaining ringers (4 or more on bass C4-C5, plus more on bass chimes - or 2 or more (4iH) on treble, add as many chimes as you have people up to 5 octaves) play supporting chords on chimes.
The extra option to double the bell solo an oct. higher with an additional 2nd solo ringer makes this a great training piece for a budding soloist to shadow a more experienced ringer. While the key signatures imply C minor and D minor, they are really in dorian mode, due to the raised 6ths. Reproducible by the original purchaser.
This “Bells Plus a Solo” piece demo recording is by Gloria Dei Ringers, with cello, two ringing soloists and bass chimes (C3-C5).
