Crown of Thorns Crown of Glory
Two hymn tunes--"O Sacred Head Now Wounded" and "Crown Him with Many Crowns"--are combined into a moving and glorious arrangement for Lent, Holy Week or Easter. The PASSION CHORALE is presented in a gentle and flowing manner, using an LV bass accompaniment. Optional handchimes in the bass and middle ranges then play J.S. Bach’s harmonization with lightly malleted eighth notes in the upper treble bells. A transition using both tunes grows into a brilliant fanfare, leading into a majestic, triumphant playing of “Crown Him with Many Crowns”, with the fanfare returning to conclude the work. This thought-provoking score is 92 measures and is set in g minor and C Major.
