Beyond the Horizon
This 'tone poem' (mood sequence) is a series of musical themes describing a quest for peace: anticipation, a vision, apprehension or angst, grandeur, reflection, returning to the vision, and ultimately, resolution and peace prevailing. These sections flow seamlessly from one to the next and are identified in the score. Different techniques, including Mallet, Sk, LV, TD, and more, add to the interest and emphasize rhythms and dynamics.
This is a very creative work that contains lovely melody lines while adding unexpected yet very appropriate and satisfying elements throughout. An optional percussion score will further enhance this work. It could be appropriately classified as a work of 21st-century contemporary classical music. It is easily rung by a solid Level 3 group and is appropriate for both worship and concert.
