Ringing Favorite Hymns and Chants, vol. 1 - 3 Octave
This versatile collection of familiar hymn tunes and chants is very accessible for 3 octave handbell choirs. Each one is rated a Level 1 on the Handbell Musicians of America's difficulty rating scale (with Level 1 being the easiest and Level 5 being the most advanced), because there are very few bell changes/accidentals and no complex rhythms.
These hymn arrangements can be used for various reasons: for teaching; for use during mass or Eucharistic celebrations; or for accompanying choir and/or congregational singing (all arrangements in this collection are in the vocal range). There is nothing more beautiful than hearing handbells accompany the choir and congregation!
Each hymn in the collection can be used not only as an accompaniment for the choir and/or congregation, but can be played on handbells as a prelude, during offertory, communion, or as a postlude. If played during offertory, as an accompaniment for the choir and/or congregation or communion, the director is free to add as many repeats as needed. Directors can also be creative by substituting handchimes for handbells on one or more of the verses. Additionally, this series contains no dynamic markings, giving the director flexibility to set the dynamics as desired.
