The dynamic and intense beginning featuring malleted bass notes, treble line with accents and dynamics which impart a feeling of angst as many may feel when the going gets tough and it seems the troubles and pain are unrelenting. Singing bell, LV, and mallet roll techniques add to the overall impact of this work. The tension gradually abates through lovely flowing passages which segue into a lyrical setting of the hymn.
