This arrangement of the Israeli folk song was originally a popular folk dance. The text comes from the canticle of King Solomon, also known as the Song of Solomon. The slow and mysterious opening gives way to a dancelike, upbeat section filled with energy. A slower, lyrical middle section provides contrast before the spirited ending. An optional tambourine part is included.
