Ionian Columns (Strong Faith)
 Go boldly into quarter notes!! Written with developing ringers in mind, "Ionian Columns" focuses on the Ionian (Major) mode, using the "blank" key signature of C Major. Block chords represent the stately historic columns, and the melody, the scrolled decorations at the top. Harmonic seconds, gyros, optional mallets on tabled bells, double voicing, and carefully isolated parts provide many teaching moments. Use the sacred subtitle "Strong Faith" for worship settings.
Coordinating with Section E in the Square One Curriculum (RE3013R), "Ionian Columns" features Whole, Half and Quarter notes and rests and is easily mastered. Diatonic, with no bell changes and no bell sharing, this piece can be rung with social spacing. Written with the developing ringer in mind, all ringers are well-employed in all the skills, the melody is found in both treble and bass, and (for the 4-5 oct. version) special care is taken to make sure bass ringers are not overloaded. With a range of 2 to 5 octaves, it can be used throughout the years with shifting numbers of ringers, and can also be played by many different-range choirs together in a school concert or festival setting. 40 measures set in C Major.
