Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child
4 to 6 ringers on G4-Bb5 (10 bells or 12 bells with opt. C/D6) supply a rich accompaniment for a soulful Cello/Bell Tree/C instrument solo. Two optional bass parts make it even fuller (C4-G4 & C3-G3 chimes are ideal). The solo part covers one octave from D to D and is offered in several ranges for either a treble (D5-D6 or D6-D7) or bass (D4-D5) instrument. This piece shines when you are short-handed, want to showcase a soloist, or need to play without tables, and is perfect for a thoughtful moment in worship. Playable by 4 to 9+ ringers – quartet, quintet, sextet, septet depending on bell assignments. Written for a new ringer (7th grade) who also plays cello! Appropriate for Lent and general use.

Please note: bass clef and lower treble solo parts overlap the bells used by the ensemble accompaniment; a second set of bells will be needed unless the bell soloist/ensemble is using the D6-D7 range).
