Matthew Compton, 15, is one of the youngest published handbell composers. In October 2007, Matthew picked up his very first handbell and that was just the beginning as he now has three pieces accepted for publication. With three years' ringing experience, Matthew is developing ringing skills with the help of Kevin McChesney and the Pikes Peak Ringers. He has been composing handbell music for the past eighteen months, also with Kevin's help. A high school freshman, Matthew's number one priority is keeping up with his studies and grades. He aspires to be a member of the Pikes Peak Ringers, and continue to advance his musical career. His future goals include wanting to direct handbell events and festivals.
