"Born and raised in New Jersey, Barbara is currently a resident of Riverview, Florida. She studied Mathematics and Music at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, graduating summa cum laude with a B.S. in Mathematics and Music in 1991. She studied piano throughout her childhood and college years and has
rung in handbell choirs since high school, including
the Sonoran Bells, a community group in Tucson,
Arizona. After graduating from college, Barbara moved
to Colorado Springs where she began writing software
for weather monitoring and US military command and
control systems. Barbara married her high school
sweetheart in 1992 and continued working as a software
engineer for 10 years before becoming a published
composer and mother to three boys, now 5 «, 4, and 2
months. Barbara also recently attended a Master Class
in Composition sponsored by the American Guild of
English Handbell Ringers (AGEHR).
Barbara has several published handbell pieces,
including "They That Wait," her first composition for
handbells, and "You", an arrangement by Kevin
McChesney of her piano original. Her most recent
work, "Parting," honors her father, Kermit Anderson,
who died in the north tower of the World Trade Center
on September 11, 2001. All are published by Jeffers
Handbell Supply.
When not busy with her preschoolers or composing,
Barbara enjoys scrapbooking, hiking with her family,
and rock climbing with her husband."
