"Nancy Hascall has been active in handbells since 1979 as a ringer, conductor, soloist, clinician, and composer/arranger. Director of community handbell ensemble Bells of the Cascades, she also directs the Sanctuary Bell Choir at First United Methodist Church
in Portland, OR, and is the founder and artistic
director of the Oswego Handbell Ensemble.
Nancy has taught and conducted at numerous handbell
events throughout the Northwest and nationally,
including Handbell Exploration and AGEHR Area and
National events. An accomplished solo ringer, she is
the originator of "traveling four-in-hand," a system
of techniques for ringing complex passages with
greater facility through economy of motion. In
addition to more than twenty published handbell works,
she has authored several articles on ringing
techniques for Overtones, and in fall 2003 released
her first solo handbell CD, Ringing from the Heart
(available at www.HeavenlyHandbells.com)
Nancy and her husband Glen, also an accomplished
handbell ringer and clinician, have raised four
children and live in Lake Oswego, Oregon. They still
both ring in the Covenant Bell Choir at Lake Grove
Presbyterian Church, where Nancy picked up her first
handbell over 23 years ago.
