Review:
This setting of the traditional French carol is subtitled
"An Advent Carol." The anticipatory spirit of advent is musically captured through surprise key changes, the mysterious ambiance of optional chimes (3-5 octaves), tempo changes, dynamic fluctuations, and contrasting tempos. Joyful original material introduces the tune and reappears as interlude material. All this is in lilting meters. Measures total 77.
