Review:
This familiar opening to the Bach Cantata 142, appropriate for both worship and concert, could also be used to replace orchestra or organ in presenting the overture within the context of the entire cantata. Although only 32 measures long, ringers will be challenged by the necessity for clean damping of the many 16th note passages. Work to achieve the suggested tempo of a quarter note equals M.M. 84-96. Measures total 33.
