Review:
In the language of the Dakota Sioux, the word "Minnesota" means "sky-tinted water." Commissioned by the group "Stikepoint" of Duluth, Minnesota, "Sky-tinted Waters" is a three-movement suite inspired by the beauty and serenity of Minnesota's lakes. The first movement paints a picture of the peaceful, pristine West Bearskin Lake in the north woods. The second movement is a comic vignette of fun on the frozen lake Mille Lacs, featuring those delightful Scandinavian buddies of Minnesota lore, Sven and Ole. The third movement is a lilting sailor song, and is a tribute to the lives lost on the perilous lake called "Gitche Gumee" (Lake Superior). This suite will be a unique and entertaining addition fot your concert repertoire.
