Review:
This lyrical, peaceful, original composition for handbells and optional violin solo directly reflects the text of the twenty-third Psalm. The words to the Psalm are printed over the music, so ringers and directors will be able to relate the music to the text, thus enhancing interpretation. The music begins calmly and gently, gradually and steadily building to emotional heights as the Psalm passage nears its conclusion, and ends simply and restfully. "The Lord is My Shepherd" is appropriate anytime Psalm 23 is used in worship or other special services, but it will be a dramatic and poignant addition to any concert or festival program. Set in D Major, b minor, and G Major, this composition is 110 measures.
