Review:
"To the Gates of the City" is intended for Palm Sunday. The style is that of a march, and the music depicts the triumphant entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem. In Bb, the piece uses a number of ringing techniques to achieve the desired effects, including swings and plucks. Written in ABA form, "To the Gates of the City" is generally quite joyous and triumphant but does have a more serene section. Palm Sunday will be celebrated well with this 49-measure piece.
