Review:
Prairie Suite by Kathleen Wissinger for 3-6 Octaves of handbells and 3-5 octaves of handchimes has three movements: "People of the South Wind", "Sunflower Dance", and "Reach for the Stars". This piece was commissioned by AGEHR Area VIII for their Summer 2010 Festival in Topeka, Kansas. "People of the South Wind" is calm and melodic, "Sunflower Dance" is based on intervals using the Fibonacco series, and "Reach for the Stars" utilizes mallets on suspended bells.
