Review:
"He Is Born" is a lively arrangement of the traditional eighteenth-century tune IL EST NÉ. This well-known French carol comes from the region of Provence. The dance-like character of this arrangement artfully illustrates the words of the carol, which tell us to "play the oboe and bagpipes merrily." Thumb damps, plucked notes, and table-malleted bells give the arrangement a toe-tapping vitality, and both the treble and bass clef share in the melody. Scored in Eb Major, this piece is 84 measures.
