Review:
This original composition is inspired by the Chinese poem "Night Thoughts" written by Li Bai of the Tang dynasty (701-762). The sixteenth-note opening figure represents a quiet stream with a reflection of the moon in the water. The quiet, meditative nocturnal atmosphere gradually transforms into a fantasy with a quick and energetic section. The music recaps majestically with triplets and continues to build to a strong and final statement. This challenging work is 100 measures and is scored in c minor.
