Review:
As the title suggests, this collection for 6 ringers (using bells B4–F6) features Christmas titles with suggestions for non-seasonal titles. In E-major, "The Christmas Star" ("Starlight") gives five of the six Level 1 ringers an opportunity to use their “black” bells. "The Heavenly Host" ("Cherubim") is scored for both bells and chimes. Bell changes for two positions plus changes from chimes to bells put the composition at Level 2 despite its Level 1 rhythms. Although "The First Nowell" is definitely Level 2, the rhythms should not be too hard if the ringers know the melody or words. This carol can be used beyond Christmas because stanza 5 describes the magi, making it suitable for Epiphany.
