Review:
A haunting and mysterious opening – provided by singing bell, bass chimes, and suspended bells played with mallets – gives way to a delicate verse of hymn tune HERZLIEBSTER JESU. A flowing eighth note pattern leads to a key change and the final, triumphant verse before the piece returns to the feel of the beginning. This arrangement is a perfect choice for any solemn service during the Lenten season. 63 measures. Keys of c minor and f minor.
