Review:
This perky rendition of the holiday icon “Jingle Bells” will delight ringers and audiences alike. Two compatible settings are included in the “Jingle, Jingle” folio: “2” for 2-5 octaves (Level 1+) with a lively obbligato part (G6-C7 at Level 2) that trails the Jingle Bells melody in the “A” section – and “1” for 2-3 octaves with a simplified obbligato part (L2-) for the same range (G6-C7). The “B” section (“Dashing through the snow…”) features a strong melody line in the bass and thumb-damped chords in the treble. One ringer in the composer’s ensemble needed a little extra help, so an extracted score for the EF6 ringer was written out with some counting and lyrics – and is included, just in case you need it. Eighth-notes are concentrated in the two top positions (GA6 and B6C7) with a scattered few in the bass in the “B” section. Otherwise quarter notes throughout. It is set in a sing-able key; you might want to invite your audience to sing along on the repeat for a fun concert closer. Part of the “Split-Level series” from ringTrue Handbell Music, which features pieces with targeted L1 parts (in this case most of them - from F6 down) with L2 options (2 parts G6-C7, or 1 ringer learning 4iH) to help integrate newer ringers while keeping experienced ringers challenged.
