Review:
A Martha Lynn Thompson transcription of "The Thieving Magpie" by Gioacchino Rossini. Composed in 1817, the overture to this fun two-act opera sets a military tone about the mystery of a stolen spoon, actually taken by the bird. It’s said that Rossini was locked in a room and he dropped pages of music for the copyists from the window. With wonderful malleted bass and triplets in the high notes, this piece will challenge your advanced ringers.
