Review:
This is a 2 octave handbell arrangement of the
Clockworks suite written by Haydn in 1792. In this arrangement, the original meters and keys have been changed (numbers 1 & 2 were originally written in the key of C; number 3 in the key of F) and certain ornamentations have been altered or deleted.
Brief history of the Suite: In the late 1700's P. Primitivus Niemecz, a monk and librarian to Haydn's benefactor, Prince Esterhazy, built three mechanical flute clocks. Niemecz entreated Haydn, his friend and teacher, to compose original music for these charming instruments. The resulting compositions were completed in 1792.
