Review:
This is an arrangement of a children's French folk song about a dance performed on the Pont d'Avignon, officially the Pont Saint-Bénézet, that dates back to the 15th century. Written in the theme and variations form, it begins easy, then gets progressively more difficult. Ringing techniques include martellato, mart lift, and swings.
Part of the
French Folk Song Suite for Handbells, this piece may be played alone or in combination with any of the other pieces in the Suite. Titles in the Suite are: "Allouette", "Au Claire de la Lune", "Sur le Pont d’Avignon", and "Frère Jacques".
