"We Are God's People" is comprised of five continuous variations based on the hymn tune SYMPHONY, which has its origin in the fourth movement of Brahms' First Symphony. Though the handchimes are marked as optional, they add tonal color to the melody. The optional Bb Trumpet descant enhances the festive, stately nature of the arrangement.
