Review:
Celebrate Advent with this 3-octave handbell solo “Hark, the Glad Sound,” a majestic arrangement of the hymn tune CHESTERFIELD, which is attributed to Thomas Haweis. The solo ranges from Bb4 to C7, and is playable either on a bell tree or rung from the table. Beginning and concluding with a fanfare, using either shakes or mallet rolls, and a smoother, more lyrical mid-section, it will be a joyous addition to the Advent repertoire. A downloadable MP3 piano accompaniment track is also available.
This solo is included in the reproducible collection Sacred Solos for Bell Tree, Set 3: Advent and Christmas ( MCGB1232).
