Review:
This beautifully crafted original work was written for Bell Tree Solo with handbell choir accompaniment. It begins with a gentle and mysterious legato section as the solo introduces hints of the melody. This leads to a very nice segue into the key of F-major and the introduction of a gently syncopated rhythm. The fully developed melody is enhanced by contrapuntal echoes in the choir where the melody is featured in the upper bass while the soloist rings a lyrical accompaniment. A very nice interplay with ongoing legato eighth note passages moving smoothly to C-major then back to F-major continues to the final section where both choir and soloist are fully integrated into the exciting and dynamic ending!
The composer has included charts showing a well-thought-out bell tree setup. It is important to note that there are no duplicate bells needed to play this work. It is also available with piano accompaniment (item #
MFM1176).
