Review:
Caleb Onstead has composed a lovely new work that will be a wonderful fit for a variety of occasions – in worship, for Christmas, or in any secular setting. The melody is plaintive yet uplifting and the overall makeup of the complete piece is moving and speaks directly to the heart. Written in A major, it is filled with nuance and expression that will tug at your emotions. There are moments of heart-rending pathos and redemptive developments that resolve beautifully - (look out John Williams!). It is elegant in its romanticism and allows space and time to be moved by its loveliness. This is sure to be a favorite in your group’s repertoire.
It is occasionally scored with two treble clefs to accommodate the octave ranges (3-4 octaves and 5-7 octaves) without all the brackets – which many will appreciate!
