Review:
Le Cygne (The Swan) is number 13 of fourteen movements of Camille Saint-Saëns delightful musical suite, Le Carnaval des Animaux (Carnival of the Animals) – and is the only movement that Saint-Saëns would allow to be published during his lifetime. It was originally written for solo cello and two pianos which inspired Fred to create this transcription for separate handbell and handchime choirs. It is very, very close to the original work and even includes the sound of little ‘drops of water’ which were included in the original 2nd piano score. Marked to be played slowly and gracefully plus perfect placement of LV, R, dynamics, and nuance throughout will create a feeling of longing and beauty. This title was arranged specifically for Distinctly Bronze West, 2024.
