Review:
This creative marrying of two familiar favorite classical works creates a lovely title for use in both sacred and secular settings. The Pachelbel "Canon in D" pedal line features flowing LVs supporting the alternating melodies of the "Canon" and the Holst hymn tune, CRANHAM, rung on bells and handchimes in both treble and bass.
Several creative sections include suspended treble bells ringing the "Canon" pedal line while chimes in the bass play the CRANHAM melody. Of course, the original "Canon" is written in D-major but this score begins in C-major, with a key change to the original D-major in the final section where the two tunes are fully integrated. This will be a wonderful addition to your group's repertoire!
