Review:
This creative setting of a Christmas favorite, IN DULCI JUBILO, is written in 6/8 and has a definite joyful waltz feel. Careful attention to dynamics, a few stopped sounds and echos add to the charm. A nicely-crafted segue leads to a gentle and more interpretive section featuring handchimes with vib. chimes accompanying the melody. Following a cesura, a malleted rhythm leads to the melody crescendoing to fortissimo marts – with a sudden soft main theme with echos following as it moves to an exciting and dynamic ending. What a fun setting this is for Level 3 and up handbell teams!
