Review:
Composer Susan Nelson writes, "Indonesian Impressions is a handbell piece which imitates the sound of a Javanese Gamelan". The piece uses the pelog scale (D, E, F, G#, A, Bb and C) and Javanese form: introduction (bulka) - fast/loud section; slow/soft more intricate section; fast/loud section - abrupt ending. It should be noted the piece is a mix of Eastern and Western music and not intended strictly as a Javanese idiom. A page full of other performance notes and background follows.
