Review:
Arranger John Matheny begins his arrangement of the favorite spiritual with a slow rubato and bluesy introduction. After a couple of fermatas he begins a light and bouncy section with the bass line marked with mallets on tabled bells. He makes this suggestion: Mallets-strive for a jazz string bass effect. While the bass is busy with that instruction the upper bells play the melody in open harmonies with a few shakes thrown in.
