Red River Valley, The

Review:      Commissioned for the 1998 AGEHR Area IX (TX and OK) Young Ringers Festival and published by Red River Music in Tyler, TX. (Some may not be aware that the Red River forms a partial boundary between Oklahoma and Texas). Arranged for 2-3 octaves and optional 17-21 handchimes. After a lazy intro the music begins to bounce with staccato accompaniment below the melody. Chimes and echo technique take over for a section before a "honky-tonk" version will rolled mallet chords take the floor. The final section returns to the lively, bouncing figure. Fun!
