Review:
Martin Shaw's tune PURPOSE is set here equally for 3,4,5 or 6 octaves of bells. The beginning creeps in in the key of d minor at a pianissimo level and builds to a fortissimo before the melody enters. The second section lightens up a bit with "bagpipe" ornamentation and plucked accompaniment. Mart lifts and mallets on tabled bells combine for the next section and lead to a full ending marked GRANDIOSO.
