The title "When Morning Gilds the Skies" conjures up immediate imagery and the music of this setting of the hymn tune LAUDES DOMINE contributes as well. Fluctuating meter in simple time, tower swings, a sudden rush of tempo and ascending line, excited eighth-note patterns, and then syncopated rhythms with mallets on tabled bells all lend their view of a magnificent morning praising its Creator. 113 measures.
