Review:
Advanced ringers will enjoy this rendition of Igor Stravinsky's masterwork, written as part of
The Raleigh Ringers Series. It combines 4-7 octaves of bells, 2 octaves of handchimes, and 2 octaves of solo handbells or alternate bells (such as Whitechapel, Silver Melody Bells, Petit & Fritzen, or other bells or chimes). Though the chimes and the solo/alternate bells are listed as optional, the three instruments plus the incorporation of various techniques render rich tone colors and imaginative sound. Rhythmic challenges, tempo fluctuations, and the necessity of expressive musicality will build your group's skills and musical appreciation. Fifty-four measures.
