The texture of this expressive work starts simply and then builds into a strong, fully-scored section. This section is abruptly followed by a passage of etheral sound produced by echo and mallets on suspended bells techniques. The opening material returns and builds to a strong finish.

Commissioned in memory of 21 lives lost on board the TWA flight 800 in July of 1996, this beloved Philip Bliss hymn tune, VILLE DU HAVRE, has a score for optional 3 octaves of chimes, violin or flute. On July 21, 1996 an angle cloud appeared above the bereaved community along with 21 smaller clouds and two rainbows.

Commissioned for the 1999 Arkansas State Festival for 3,4 or 5 octaves, this original work is well-suited for mass ringing. The melody moves along and uses some slight syncopation.

The arranger of this gospel hymn tune writes: The secret to a sensitive, musical interpretation of "My Jesus, I Love Thee" is the phrasing. A slight rise and fall to all melodic fragments marked with a slur will give the music a much-needed sense of energy and forward motion. Arranged for 2-3 octaves and 4-5 octaves of handbells.

This setting for 3-5 octaves and optional Bb2, handchimes (2 octaves) and clarinet or violin is based on Nurit Hirsh's original work. The Jewish flavor is enhanced through use of mallets on tabled bells in the accompaniment,. The middle section is calm and peaceful, but soon returns to the opening material. Separate parts are available for the instrumental parts.

"Praise Him, Praise Him, Pass Me Not O Gentle Saviour, Blessed Assurance Jesus is Mine" are the hymn tunes included in this selection which features the hymn texts of Fanny Crosby. The work may be played in its entirety (227 measures), however the tune settings are joined by optional transitions and endings making it possible to play the hymns individually or in any combination desired.

J.S. Bach's "Sheep May Safely Graze," and William Bradbury's "Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us" are combined in this pastoral setting. Ringers have many opportunities to learn expressive ringing, and how to control dynamics while distinguishing the melody from the somewhat delicate accompaniment. Mallets on suspended bells provide an effective ending in measure 65.

Arranger Doug Wagner combines the popular praise chorus "Seek Ye First" and Johann Pachelbel's famous canon in this easy-to-prepare anthem with a separate score for 3,4 or 5 octaves of bells.

This newer congregational song is arranged for bells and optional flute or violin. Reflective tempos, changing harmonies, and even an optional passage (Ossia) all serve to enhance the music. The verses and chorus are marked for reference. Mallets are the predominant technique called for, although others are scattered through the score.

The composer of this original work writes "Song of Peace is a reflection of the way the world has treated peace almost from the beginning of time." The tune DONA NOBIS PACEM is given a rather harsh, angular treatment, but out of the cacophony comes  a much more harmonious setting, signifying our eternal hope that peace will come one day for all of humankind.

Written for an opening concert of an AGEHR event this setting is based on "Te Deum, Leoni, and Morning Song". The work opens in a free manner "like a chant" then pauses before a driving "Allegro" sections in 6/8 and 6/4 meter. A later section writes in melody and harmony parts for chimes in the 3-4 octave range.
 
They'll Know We Are Christians By Our Love:  Scholtes, P.,Gesehkie, S.,HP
 
They Shall Soar Like Eagles:  Manzo, L.,Sherman, A.,FB
"They shall soar like eagles, rise up and soar like eagles, they that wait upon the Lord", so goes part of the text of Laura Manzoi's original choral anthem upon which this bell setting is based. Arranger, Arnold Sherman, is faithful to the mood and flow of the original while adding those bell techniques and effects that fit the bell instrument so well. Make the text available for your hearers for further enjoyment of a lovely work.

Much like a train leaving the station and gradually gaining speed, "This Train" starts out simply and increases in tempo and dynamics. A malleted (or plucked) chordal accompaniment in the bass represents the chug-a-chug sound of the train.

An introductory section of pulsing rhythm, in peal-like fashion, propels this original composition toward a more spicy, staccato passage and then to a rela, serene section of LV accompaniment and optional chime melody. These contrasting textures alternate throughout the ninty-nine measure work.

A truly versatile setting of the favorite hymn tune for 3, 4, 5, or 6 octaves AND 16 handchimes in the 3 octave range. Variation textures are chordal, flowing with chime melody, syncopated, staccato with mallets, harp-like with arpeggios, and full, strong, and chromatic to finish. 173 measures in length.
