The 2006 AGEHR Area III Composition Contest Winner "Allegro Spiritoso" is dedicated to the Spirit Ringers of Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church, Weddington, North Carolina.

Ralph Manuel's original, beautiful, cantabile melody has been transcribed here for 3, 4 or 5 octaves of bells. Ringers will be challenged to ring gentle syncopations, expressive 16th note patterns, and to change between three keys effectively. The texture is light and airy and lends itself to a devotional moment in worship. This 54-measure work is arranged in G Major, Eb Major, and Gb Major.

Harmony, tempo, key changes and ringing techniques add excitement to this bold fanfare. Bells alone may perform this piece, or add the optional organ and/or brass ensemble and timpani.

Capriccio is defined as "an instrumental piece in free form." Composer Kevin McChesney has placed this piece in 7/8 time with occasional 6/8 and 3/8 measures with a middle section in 3/4.

Full of energy and drive and punctuated by the use of stopped sounds, this festive 2-3 octave handbell setting incorporates syncopated rhythms, interspersed with a traditional presentation of this hymn tune.
 
Come Thou Fount of Ev'ry Blessing:  Nettleton,Moklebust, C.,CO
Commissioned by a church in celebration of their 50th anniversary, this arrangement makes use of the tune NETTLETON from John Wyeth's "A Repository of Scared music, 1813." Mallets on tabled bells in bouncy, fanfare rhythms provides the accompaniment for the first section. This is contrasted by a delicate section that incorporates five chimes in the 2-0ctave range on the melody.

Gospel musician Anne Herring was at the height of her career in 1974 when she released the energetic hit single "Easter Song".

FESTAL DANCE is a spirited handbell composition which evokes a feel of the Renaissance with or without the auxillary instrumentation. Moving from a graceful movement with a triple feel into a stately duple section and then returning to elements of the opening section, ringers will enjoy the challenge of rhythm and musicality that this piece provides. Written in f minor, this piece is 84 measures.
 
Gospel Train, The:  African-American Spiritual,Stephenson, Valerie W.,LC
No one can dish up spirituals for the idiom as effectively as Valerie Stephenson, and this is undoubtedly one of her best.
