Early ringers should enjoy this simple setting of the 17th century French carol. The tempo is quarter = 132 in 3/4 time, but with no eighth-notes. Some accompaniment is marked with the pluck technique adding bounce to the open feel of the work.

6/8 meter gives this setting of the French carol a dance-like character. There is enough leeway in the metronome marking to find a comfortable tempo for intermediate ringers. In 108 measures the arranger captures the poignant message of Twila Paris' immortal work: How beautiful is the body of Christ. Marked Gently flowing, the LV technique is applied to the opening, treble ostinato before the melody enters in the mid-range register. Chordal textures add strength but gradually give way to a delicate ending.

Mallets on tabled bells start the pulse going in the lower bell accompaniment, while the melody speaks out from the treble. After a key change the music relaxes a bit with flowing eighth-note accompaniment in the treble with melody in the middle register. The original material returns with a big flourish in the three ending measures.

Commissioned in memory of 21 lives lost on board the TWA flight 800 in July of 1996, this beloved Philip Bliss hymn tune, VILLE DU HAVRE, has a score for optional 3 octaves of chimes, violin or flute. On July 21, 1996 an angle cloud appeared above the bereaved community along with 21 smaller clouds and two rainbows.

Flowing, gentle, in 9/8 meter this title is based on "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by J. S. Bach and "Silent Night" by Franz Gruber. The LV technique is used extensively to achieve a peaceful mood. The texture is light with melody in doubled, upper register and triads in chords or in triplet feel. 67 measure in length.

"Joyfully" is the word used to describe this score that is performed totally with mallets. Most of the piece is straight eighth notes and tall chords.

Get out your clogging shoes for this delightful, dance-like original composition by an Arkansas native. There are several melodies that occur within the piece and special rehearsal instructions are included to help ringers identify these tunes and bring them out. The opening melody is reminiscent of Shaker tunes. 98 measures.

The famous rhythmic motive associated with "Hallelujah!" from G.F. Handel's Hallelujah! Chorus" is found scattered throughout this fun setting of the traditional spiritual. There's lots of articulations (marts, mallets, echo, etc.) and even the infamous grand pause (you know, the one where somebody always sings ha-le-lu-jah in the rest!) with the instructions "FREEZE FOR 3 BEATS!"

Get ready for "the warm fuzzies" (sheep that is) in this tender selection based on "Sheep May Safely Graze" (J.S. Bach), "Away in a Manger" (Kirkpatrick), and "Infant Holy, Infant Lowly" (Polish carol). All these tunes are featured in 54 measures. The work's fabric is open, flowing, and steady in tempo with only two bell changes. A nice selection to challenge a choir toward level III repertoire.

A majestic setting of the familiar tune, Lobe Den Herren, that provides ringers with martellato and mart-lifts to give weight to the melody. For beginning ringers or experienced ringers wanting to work on their musicality skills, this setting of STILLE NACHT by Franz Gruber works for either group. The echo technique is scored to add shimmering quality to the score. The melody is found in different registers, allowing several the ringers and opportunity to ring the line.

Learning opportunities are abundant in this original energetic piece for beginning ringers. The use of the optional C instrument encourages the ringers to ring independently while simultaneously playing with another instrument. The bells ring in a chordal texture while the instrument provides more intricate rhythms and melody. 45 measures.

The music or William Bradbury is combined with J.S. Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" in this setting for 3-5 octaves of handbells and 3-5 octaves of handchimes (note, the chimes are NOT optional). Drag out your "Oxford Book of Carols" and see if you can identify all the British carol tunes incorporated into this 109-measures arrangement. Very few articulations are called for, allowing ringers to focus in on ringing and damping. Because this is written for 3 or 4 octaves (no 5th octave), ringers encounter fewer ( ) making for a smoother read.

Arranger Cynthia Dobrinski set this traditional English carol in 6/4 meter for easier rhythm reading. Only the LV and mallet on suspended bells articulations are scored in addition to pure rung and damped bell tones. Accessible for 2, 3, or 4 octaves makes this a good one for combined choirs.
