Review:
Share some holiday cheer with a lovely selection of 7 Bell Tree carols using only 8 bells. "8 Bells for Carols" is perfect for ringing at Red Kettles, in small spaces or as a palate cleanser during a concert. The pieces included in Volume 2 are Easy-Medium difficulty – with trickier patterns and sometimes 2nd voice moving above and below the melody. The Bell Tree part can be played as a single stem-up melody line (easier) or with the added stem-down part (more challenging) – or a second ringer (on the backside of same bell tree or on their own bell tree) can play the stem-down notes. The chime part can be played by a solo ringer (or two, if you wish) either rung normally or, with chimes flipped over on a soft pad, lightly tapped (sounding like a “chime tree.”) Each piece has an optional repeat - plus a repeatable introduction that allows the chime ringer to reset between pieces. Other options include 4iH duet, or 3 or 4 ringers using 8 Bells. Two folios offer range options: G5 to G6 (2 octaves, plus chimes C5-C6) or C5-C6 or C6 to C7 (1 or 3 octaves, plus chimes F5-F6) – plus an optional chime solo for added harmony. Volume 1 is Easy (RE5611), Volume 2 is Easy-Medium (RE5612), and Volume 3 is Medium (RE5613) difficulty. Be sure to note your range choice as in RE5612C or RE5612G.
Each beautifully crafted carol is on a single page with Bell tree and chime parts. You’ll need one score per ringer. Memorization is strongly recommended for the Bell Tree ringer. These scores are available as hard copies - or as a Digital Site License which allows you to make copies as needed. The 3 pieces in the demo sound file are from Volume 2 using G to G (RE5612G) featuring the full Bell Tree part plus chimes: "Wassail Song", "See Amid the Winter’s Snow" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas". There is also a demo video at handbellworld.com showing how a bell tree stick and the flipped chimes work.
