Review:      A lively original Celtic tune (using only 8 bells, for Beginning Bell Tree soloists) starts in Dorian mode, shifts into Ionian, then back. Using the subtitle “Praise God’s Name with Dancing,” it is equally at home in worship, concert, festival or classroom. This fun piece tweaks the ear just a little, falls into the major mode for comfort and strength, then returns to Dorian mode with no change in key signature. Eight discrete sections allow from one up to eight bell tree soloists to take part in the presentation: 2, 3 or 4 ringers may also play the Solo part on 8 bells as a 4iH duet, trio or quartet. This score (RE5019R using 8 bells C-C, Easy) is one of two compatible settings offering Bell Tree options (the other is RE5014R for Bell Tree and ringing ensemble). A third compatible Level 2 3-5 octave score (RE3815) is scored for a full Handbell Ensemble. This is a great piece to showcase Bell Tree workshop participants, demonstrate a 4iH duet or an 8-bell Bell Tree String (either hanging from a stand or threaded on a stick, free or mounted in a stand (my favorite set-up)). The 2:22 mp3 file in the RE5019R’s features 5 possible solo slots and does not include the repeats. Adding all repeats (and 3 more slots for soloists) makes it 3:30.
