The first rule of "Carnivale" is for everyone - ringers, director, audience - to have fun! The piece came to be after the composer was issued a challenge in the summer of 2006 to write something that was pure fun. The piece was conceived as a relentless romp that's the embodiment of every fantastic circus, fair, and carnival you've ever been to rolled into one. Put on your clown nose and enjoy it!

Snare drum, finger cymbal (or triangle), and tambourine are optional in this setting of the traditional Catalonian carol; but do you really want to miss out on the fun they add? Joy of Christmas:  Various,Joy, Michael W.,RR
On the surface, this is a medley of "Joy to the World" and "How Great Our Joy". However, in addition to these two main carols, the inspiration for the opening fanfare, the interludes, and the coda comes from other carols whose texts use the word "joy."

Noels Ringing Tidings Bringing:  Various,Morris, Hart,RR
This medley of "The Snow Lay on the Ground," "He Is Born," "Sing We Now of Christmas," and "Infant Holy, Infant Lowly" is filled with special techniques that make these French carols come alive. Eight optional handchimes contribute to the joy as well.

O Come Let Us Adore Him:  Various,Sherman, A.,RR
This simple, but interesting arrangement is based on ADESTE FIDELES and W ZLOBIE LEZY. The texture is chordal until measure 32 where an alternating, quarter-note pattern is set up in the accompaniment. Periodically, mallets on suspended bells are called for.

Reverie:  Phillips, Judy,,RR
Reverie" may be programmed with two other pieces, "Rhapsody" (RRBL5048) and "Roundelay" (RRBL5048), to create a three movement work entitled "Triptych". A free tempo is scored along with 3 handchimes--F4, G4, and C5. Martellato lift on bells and vibrato on handchimes combine for an unusual introduction and lead to an open-structured, airy melody and accompaniment.

Rhapsody:  Phillips, Judy,,RR
"Rhapsody" may be programmed with two other pieces, "Reverie" (RRBL5049) and "Roundelay" (RRBL5050), to create a three movement work entitled "Triptych".
