Angels We Have Heard on High:  ,Dobrinski, C.,HP
Looking for a BIG selection for Christmas worship services? This setting of the traditional French carol may well fit the bill. 3-5 octaves of handbells and organ may be combined with trumpets and timpani and congregational singing with special choir parts for verses 3 and 4 (SA and soprano descant, printed in the back of the director's score part with permission to photocopy). (Note: The handbell score will not stand alone.)

Away in a Manger Medley:  Various,Bock, F./Mathis, W.,FB
Arranger William Mathis has set this medley for bells and 7 chimes in the 3 octave range. Both "CRADLE SONG" and "AWAY IN A MANGER" tunes are used.

Awesome God and Almighty Medley:  Various,Cota, Patricia S.,HP
Two standard praise choruses by Rich Mullins and Wayne Watson are arranged in a medley for 2-3 octaves of handbells. Special techniques help create the ethereal mood and include mallets on suspended bells and echoes.

Bring a Torch Jeanette Isabella:  ,Dobrinski, C.,HP
Cynthia Dobrinski's signature style shines through this sprightly setting of the traditional French carol. Lots of techniques, textures with melody, counter-melody, ornamentation, and interesting rhythmic and melodic motifs to sped the tune along its way.

Broken For You:  Wissinger, K.,,AG
The character marking of this original composition is "dolente", which is translated "sorrowful". The music exudes a reflective mood through use of long, broken chords, LV technique, and thoughtful melody. The texture and strength builds throughout the work, then rallentandos to the end in a placid mood. This piece would be beautiful for communion or another moment of meditation in worship.

Chime Lullaby:  Hollander, L., ,RO
Lynne Hollander's original compositions for chimes, or bells have been well-received. This selection focuses on 3/4 meter, use of LV and vibrato techniques, and contrasting polyphonic and chordal sections. The alternate worship title, "Cradle Lullaby", is suggested for use at Christmas time.

Christmas Fantasia:  Various,Lohr, A.,SF
142 measures go by fast in this fantasy setting of CAROL OF THE BELLS and GREENSLEEVES. The sustained ringing sound is contrasted with staccato laden passages.

Christmas Processional and Medley:  Various,Hall, Jefferey A.,JH
A repeatable processional begins this medley of "Joy to the World", "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing", and "Angels We Have Heard on High". Fully scored with special techniques, including the gyro, sprinkled throughout for flavor.

Danza:  Susato, Tielman,McChesney, Kevin,JH
2-3 octaves of bells, rung in chordal texture with lots of "spicy" techniques thrown in are only part of the overall "sound ensemble" of this tune originally written by T. Susato. Keyboard, percussion, and brass contribute as well in the joyful mood.

Four Noels:  Various,Rogers, S.,LC
"Angels We Have Heard On High," "Oh Come, Little Children," "Away in a Manger (Medley)," and "On Christmas Night" (based on Sussex Carol) are the four carols included in this flexible and handy resource for Christmas season ringing, whether in worship, concert, or bell outing.

Hear the Bells at Christmas:  Various,Thompson, M. L.,FB
Two earlier collections are combined to produce this useful volume of Christmas Carols.

Hosanna Loud Hosanna:  Ellacombe,Edwards, D.,JH
Boisterous syncopation in fanfare style introduces and interrupts rhythmically-manipulated melody and then contrasts with a smooth, peaceful section before it breaks out again in a rush to an ending flourish.

How Great Thou Art:  Various,Helman, M.,AP
Chimes or Bells will feel equally at home in this medley of the title tune and "This Is My Father's World". The melodies are clearly marked throughout with melody lines, enabling the ringers to "track" the music. The LV and shake techniques are used.

I'll Fly Away:  Various,Waldrop, T.,RO
"Some glad morning, when this life is o'er, I'll fly away". Albert Brumley's beloved gospel tune is here combined with "In the Sweet By and By" for a toe-tapping time for 3, 4 or 5 octaves. Lots of staccato technique (especially for the bass bells).

In the Bleak Midwinter:  Holst, G.,Eithun, S.,JH
A lot of interest and contrast are packed into the 43 total measures of this setting of Gustav Holst's beloved carol. Ringers will benefit from the challenge of varying tempos, moods, dynamic levels and LV technique. The rhythms should come fairly easy allowing time to focus on musicality.

Jesus Shall Reign:  Hatton, J.,Eithun, S.,JH
Alternating ringing and marting set up a march-like mood for the quick entrance of the majestic hymn tune. The sections are contrasting and marked with "Exuberance" and "Gently", giving ringers an opportunity to work on musical expression.

Joy to the World:  Handel, G. F.,Edwards, D.,AP
The "JOY" in this setting fo the favorite carol is achieved musically with strong textures, mart-lifts, shakes, echos, and thumb damps. Scored to keep all ringers involved and each register to be parft of the melody at some time during the piece. Performance notes are given on the final page.

Joy to the World:  Handel, G.,Stephenson, V.,LC
The "Joy" in the title is depicted in several ways in this setting based on the hymn tune "Antioch" by G.F. Handel. A strong bell "peal" opens the numbers and leads into the tune on top of treble chords with martellatos and mallets on the syncopated accompaniment. Shakes and echos appear later in an open-spaced passage, which later build to a grand ending.

Let There Be Peace on Earth:  Miller, S./Jackson, J.,Sherman, A.,HP
Sy Miller and Jill Jackson gave to the world what is perhaps the strongest desire of us all in their original work here arranged for 2-3 octaves of handbells. Simple rhythms, a moderate tempo, full score, and few bell changes should allow beginning choirs to succeed quickly with the music. Measures total 100.

Make Me an Instrument of Thy Peace:  McChesney, Kevin, ,JH
Dedicated to the victims of the shooting at Columbine High School and other acts of senseless violence, this original composition's mood is based upon the 13th-century prayer of St. Francis of Assisi.

A narrator may read the prayer (included in the full score) during the playing of the piece - see page 15 of the full score for additional performance options and notes.

Mary Joseph and the Baby:  Waldrop, Tammy, ,RO
Find out what the animals were thinking that night in the stable when Jesus was born. A donkey and a sheep narrator tell their side of the story.

Music Box Noel:  Various,Edwards, D.,SP
"He Is Born," "Angels We Have Heard on High", "Ukranian Bell Carol", "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", and "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silent" are the carols presented here in music box style, sometimes simultaneously! Open spacing, staccato for light-hearted effect, and ostinato rhythms add to the mood presented in 60 measures.

My Friend Jesus:  Various,Waldrop, T.,AP
"I Have Decided to Follow Jesus and What a Friend We Have in Jesus" are the two tunes which make up this arrangement. A lilting mood is scored for the first tune and a straight-forward setting with the echo technique for the second. Mostly chordal in texture with an ample supply of special technique.

Now is Born the Divine Christ Child:  ,McChesney, K.,LC
Are you looking for that "extra" Christmas number that easy to learn, is fully-scored, and equally playable at church, concert, or in the mall? This one may fit your bill. Easy rhythms and full textures keep ringers interested. The final section has some eighth-note, chordal runs which may require additional practice. A good resource arrangement.

Now the Green Blade Riseth:  ,McChesney, Kevin,HP
"Sing We Now of Christmas" is the alternate title to this tune. However, the energetic nature of this entire work suggests the vigorous growth of Spring, when the grass turns green. This energy is set up with a driving bass clef-rhythm pattern played by mallets on tabled bells.

Praise to the Lord the Almighty:  Lobe den Herren,Starks, H.,RW
A syncopated accompaniment sets up the bold melody of 'Lobe den Herren" helping to achieve the character marking, 'Brisk March". Later on the melody appears doubled in the bass clef with accents and mallets on tabled bells.

Rejoice Ye Pure in Heart:  Messiter, A.,Page, A. L.,AP
Ring-Mart, Lift-Mart Lift is a reoccurring pattern that produces a march-like feel to this regal hymn. A crisp, energetic tempo is called for with lots of opportunities to work on precision ringing! Fully scored to keep all ringers involved.

Ride the Chariot:  Various,Page, Anna Laura,AP
The combination of syncopations and articulations in this medley of the title tune and "Swing Low Sweet Chariot", creates interest for the ringers. Optional handchimes (3 oct. range) for the second meloldy. Additional performance notes give helpful suggestions for executing techniques.

Ring Together Christmas:  Various,McChesney, Kevein,JH
This installment of Kevin McChesney's best-selling series features 5 Christmas carols designed to aid the musical and technical growth of the beginning choir. All selections have 2 pages with no page turns and can usually be prepared in a couple of rehearsals.

Ring Together Hymns:  Various,McChesney, Kevin,JH
This collection of hymns, part of the highly successful Ring Together Series, includes five, 2-page selections with no page turns.

Silent Night:  Gruber, F.,Moklebust, C.,JH
Although this is a "stand-alone" handbell arrangement (optional handchimes, organ and congregation) it is most effective when used as a congregational accompaniment to the singing of this favorite Christmas carol.

Silent Night Holy Night:  Gruber, F.,Larson, L.,BE
After a tender introduction of 26 measures, the congregation may join with the handbell choir and sing the carol (repeats are built in for multiple verses). After the singing a final section, which includes harmonic changes, ends the setting.

Star Spangled Banner, The:  Key, Francis S.,Bartsch Jr, John T.,JH
Handbells, brass and percussion or various combinations of these will make your next presentation of our National Anthem one to remember. 2-3 octave choirs read from one side of the handbell score and 4-5 octave choirs read from the other side.

Toccata for a Joyous Day:  McKlveen, P., ,JH
An introductory section of pulsing rhythm, in peal-like fashion, propels this original composition toward a more spicy, staccato passage and then to a rela, serene section of LV accompaniment and optional chime melody. These contrasting textures alternate throughout the ninty-nine measure work.

Towers:  Moklebust, C., ,AG
Comissioned for an AGEHR area festival/conference, and in memory of Ellen Jane Lorenz Porter, this original composition is based on a "plain hunt" change ringing pattern. Performance notes give detailed instruction for ringing of the peals. 126 measures in length.

Ukranian Bell Carol:  Leontovich,Gillespie, D.,BE
This easy arrangement of the traditional carol is printed in 2 versions; a 3 octave edition is on one side and a 4 octave edition is on the other.

Variations on an Olde Irish Aire:  ,McMichael, C.,LC
The "Olde Irish Aire" in question is none other than LONDONDERRY AIR or more affectionately known as "Danny Boy." Open chordal textures and flowing rhythms patterns characterize the majority of this setting, which should work up quickly. If use for church, consider printing the text to Dottie Rambo's "He Looked Beyond My Fault and Saw My Need" sung to the same tune.

We Gather Together:  Various,Linker, J./McFadden, J.,AG
Linker and McFadden have another winner on their hands with this piece for bells and keyboard. The Parts complement one another, and there is a section for the bells to ring solo. Medley of "Kresmer & St. Catherine".

West Indies Carol:  ,Tucker, S.,HP
The Caribbean song most noted as a foil for the text, "Mary's little boy child," opens up in this arrangement with mallet rolls on tabled bells. Percussion (separate score) joins the syncopated and up-beat rhythmic accompaniment to get things really rolling. 58 measures.
