Ah Holy Jesus:  Traditional,Wagner, H. D.,JH
It is rare to find an arrangement that will work for 2, 3 or 4 octaves, but this setting of the hymn tune Herzliebster Jesu does just that.

America the Beautiful:  Ward,Sherman, A.,RR
Perform this exciting, fanfare-style arrangement with bells alone or add optional organ, brass (Trumpet I and II, Horn, Trombone I and II, tuba, percussion and Timpani).

America the Beautiful:  Ward, Samuel A.,Bock, Fred and McChesney, Kevin,FB
Samuel A. Ward wrote the original music, Fred Bock arranged it for piano, and now Kevin McChesney has set it for handbells. "Stately, with great breadth" is the character marking and is achieved by harmonic depth, strong rhythms and full scoring.

Arky Arky:  Waldrop, T., ,RO
The Lord said to Noah, "There's going to be a floody, floody," and sure enough there was! Arranger Tammy Waldrop has set each stanza of the Bible song "Arky, Arky" to reflect its text. There's even a rain storm!

Blessing:  Ullom-Berns, Susan, ,LC
Using only 15 bells (optional 17), this selection is rung by a 4-in-hand ensemble.

Easy to Ring Praise and Worship Volume 1:  Various,Bettcher, Peggy,HP

Twelve of today's most popular praise and worship songs come alive in this collection of easy-to-ring settings for beginning handbell/handchime choirs. Eighth notes are used sparingly, and all ringers are kept busy.

Fantasy on Kingsfold:  Hymn Tune,Wagner, H. Dean,HP
"O Sing a Song of Bethlehem," "To Mock Your Reign, O Dearest Lord" and "Come, Let Us Use the Grace Divine" are three hymn texts set to this lovely English tune which is in the minor mode.

Gaudeamus:  Sherman, A., ,HP
An energetic original composition ideally suited for a bronze choir. Chordal but very rhythmic.

Give Thanks:  Smith, H.,Geschke, S.,HP
When sung, Henry Smith's comtemporary praise chorus lilts along in smooth and sustained tones. However, in this setting, the arranger spices up and energizes the mood with a syncopated, driving accompaniment from the get go. Other textures include march-like passages complete with staccato technique and a solumn, intense section with sustained chords and echo technique.

God Bless America:  Berlin, I.,Wilson, J.,HP
A winner in anyone's book. Optional brass and timpani with separate score available.

Grazioso:  Sherman, A., ,RR
The texture of this expressive work starts simply and then builds into a strong, fully-scored section. This section is abruptly followed by a passage of etheral sound produced by echo and mallets on suspended bells techniques. The opening material returns and builds to a strong finish.

Happy the Home When God is There:  St. Agnes Dennis,Roth, K.,RW
The arranger adds interest to this setting of the hymn tune "St. Agnes Dennis" by combining it with the hymn "Blest Be the Tie That Binds" and with three octaves of optional handchimes. The melody is usually supported by full chords, but becomes more open in the section that calls for chimes on the melody. 68 measures in length.

He Has Made Me Glad:  Brethorst, L.,Ingram, B.,RW
"I will rejoice, for He has made me glad", is part of the text of Leona Von Brethorst's contemporary Christian praise chorus that has become a standard. Bill Ingram brings out the joyful mood of the chorus through use of various techniques, sprightly rhythms and ringer involvement.

How Great Thou Art:  Various,Helman, M.,AP
Chimes or Bells will feel equally at home in this medley of the title tune and "This Is My Father's World". The melodies are clearly marked throughout with melody lines, enabling the ringers to "track" the music. The LV and shake techniques are used.

Hymnfest:  Various,Weston, M.,LC
How many hymn tunes can you identify in Mark Weston's piece? 5, 8, 11? Try 16! Your ringers will have fun sleuthing the tunes while learning musical skills to bring out the melody line and accompany it appropriately. No clues are given. You might even have a contest.

I'll Fly Away:  Various,Waldrop, T.,RO
"Some glad morning, when this life is o'er, I'll fly away". Albert Brumley's beloved gospel tune is here combined with "In the Sweet By and By" for a toe-tapping time for 3, 4 or 5 octaves. Lots of staccato technique (especially for the bass bells).

Joshua Jericho and the Walls:  Waldrop, Tammy, ,RO
This Bible-story narrative is told by Joshua with a little help from his army (the handbell choir)! Narration alternates with musical comments on the dramatic action.

Joyful Praise:  Spidle, D.,,AG
Rated level 3- because of a few sixteenth notes, but easily accessible to level 2 choirs with a little extra work in spots. The 37 measures of this original composition are filled with happy melody, supportive accompaniment, a few meter changes, and no bell changes.

Jubilant Celebration:  Kerr, J. W., ,MO
Commissioned for the 1999 Arkansas State Festival for 3,4 or 5 octaves, this original work is well-suited for mass ringing. The melody moves along and uses some slight syncopation.

Jubilation Praise:  Winter, S.,,JH
"O praise ye the Lord, all things that give sound; each jubilant chord, re-echo around." This quote from the pen of Henry Williams Baker (1821-1877) is the inspiration for this original composition for handbells and optional handchimes in the upper, 3-octave range. The moods range from maestoso to allegro to dolce as the bells ring in fully-scored textures.

Make Me an Instrument of Thy Peace:  McChesney, Kevin, ,JH
Dedicated to the victims of the shooting at Columbine High School and other acts of senseless violence, this original composition's mood is based upon the 13th-century prayer of St. Francis of Assisi.

A narrator may read the prayer (included in the full score) during the playing of the piece - see page 15 of the full score for additional performance options and notes.

My Friend Jesus:  Various,Waldrop, T.,AP
"I Have Decided to Follow Jesus and What a Friend We Have in Jesus" are the two tunes which make up this arrangement. A lilting mood is scored for the first tune and a straight-forward setting with the echo technique for the second. Mostly chordal in texture with an ample supply of special technique.

Nocturne No. 2:  Helman, M., ,AG
Flowing, eighth-note broken-chords form the basis for most of the accompaniment in this original composition commissioned by The Raleigh Ringers. Espressivo melody in minor shades weaves in and out of the accompaniment pattern, sometimes opting for chimes sometimes doubled for intensity.

Now the Green Blade Riseth:  ,McChesney, Kevin,HP
"Sing We Now of Christmas" is the alternate title to this tune. However, the energetic nature of this entire work suggests the vigorous growth of Spring, when the grass turns green. This energy is set up with a driving bass clef-rhythm pattern played by mallets on tabled bells.

On Christmas Night:  Various,Helmen, M.,AG
Nine optional handchimes in the 3-octave range are scored on a lower bass-range melody in this medley of WEXFORD and SUSSEX carols from England. Sixteenth-note patterns add lilt to the texture while LV passages contribute smoothness and grace. Open scoring gives a light feel to the 83-measures work.

On Eagle's Wings:  Joncas, Michael,Wagner, Douglas E.,HP

"And he will raise you up on eagle's wing, bear you on the breath of dawn, make you to shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of His hand". So begins the text of the popular song by Michael Joncas.

Pass It On - Glorify Thy Name:  Various,Bettcher, P.,HP

Kurt Kaiser's immortal "praise song" of over 3 decades ago is combined with Donna Adkins tune from the 70's. The longevity of both tunes gives evidence of their musicality and ability to touch hearts.

Praise to the Lord the Almighty:  Lobe den Herren,McChesney, K.,HP
LOBE DEN HERREN is arranged with energy and majesty for both 2 to 3-octave and 3 to 5-octave sets of handbells, making this a favorable selection for mass ringing at festivals or combining bell ensembles within a single church.
